Just as every human should be allowed to learn how to read and write, every human should be allowed to learn how to move properly. Physical Literacy applies to YOU no matter your age or gender.
This section exists as an area of education for all who visit the site. It is widely known that the Canadian Sport System is still a work in progress but there are ways that we can all go about helping to create change. The first thing we can all do is educate ourselves on Long Term Athletic Development and how it applies to each of us specifically. Read below to learn more.
Developer of the Long Term Athletic Development Model, Canada Sport 4 Life is the leader in athletic development in our country, yet most coaches, parents and athletes lack the necessary education on this model to effectively facilitate it. This minor lack of awareness is a major crutch to the Canadian Sport System and it’s clear that correction of a few minor issues on a broad scale would have a profound effect.
- Elite level coaching needs to take place at the youngest and most developmental stages of athletics & sport to encourage athletes to learn the proper way the first time.
- Integration of sports & training needs to be carried out between provincial organizations, schools, club teams, and training facilities.
- Adult training programs need to be saved for adults. Youth & developing athletes need vastly different programs.
- Male training programs need to be saved for males. Female athletes need vastly different programs.
- All individuals need to be treated by their developmental age, not their numerical age.
- Everyone involved must educate themselves.

The Coaching Association of Canada unites stakeholders and partners in its commitment to raising the skills and stature of coaches, and ultimately expanding their reach and influence. Through its programs, the CAC empowers coaches with knowledge and skills, promotes ethics, fosters positive attitudes, builds competence, and increases the credibility and recognition of coaches.
