The Ride of the Valkyries - “A group in France The Ride of the Valkyries
-
“A group in France (Weimerskirch et al.) trained pelicans to fly behind a boat and an ultralight, and monitored their heart rate and wing flapping rate as a measure of energetic expenditure.
-
Birds flying over a river following a motor boat cruising at a constant speed of 48 km h-1 flew at an average altitude of 1 m above the water, initially alone at a distance from the boat ('alone at 1 m'), but then joining other birds in formation ('in formation'). In formation flights, only birds in or behind the third position were used to measure heart rate, to avoid the possible effects of motor-boat turbulence on flight pattern. Wing-beat frequency of the lead and second birds was measured in groups flying far from the boat.
Estimates indicate that flying in formation results in total energy savings of 11.4 - 14%” -J. Glendenning”
-
It is also known that birds flying in formation will instinctively “do their part”, rotating the lead position over the course of great distances.
-
Sounds like a good plan!🤔

YOUR BODY IS AMAZING! - - And has more sphincters YOUR BODY IS AMAZING!
-
-
And has more sphincters than you ever thought...
-
@experienceanatomy The sphincter between the esophagus and the stomach is called the lower esophageal sphincter. When this sphincter doesn't work properly we experience what we call heart burn.

The sphincter between the stomach and the small intestine is called the pyloric sphincter. Sometimes this sphincter is too good at its job and doesn't pass the food to the intestine quickly enough (gastroparesis). Symptoms include nausea and vomiting.

I was planning to post something sports related - I was planning to post something sports related - Russell Westbrook talking about being a champion outside of sports. The fact that there are more important things outside of winning a sports championship.

Things matter outside of sports

Things Like This! A whale breaching somewhere on this “pale blue dot”. So I went with this as my lead story instead!

Amazing slow-mo vid of Miguel Cabrera swinging with the hips to get his first home run of the season. Notice the hips turn first, creating a sling affect within the abdomen. The torso, shoulders, and the bat quickly follow suit, using energy harvested from the ground, generated at the hips and transfers from bat to ball at the point of contact.

If you or any athlete you know are needing guidance now. Reach out and inquire.

@tombrady working some hip disassociation - such a @tombrady working some hip disassociation - such a critical concept for all rotational athletes.

My dad used to go on and on about how Ken Griffey Jr’s swing was so perfect because he swung with his hips. This is the same concept.

Posted @withregram • @lockedinqb If It’s Not Easy • It’s Not Right 💆🏽‍♂️🤌🏽 ——————————————————————————————— Your work below the waist through the ground should be so efficient you don’t feel shit in your upper body when you throw the ball. If you wince or tug or bite your teeth or rip or have angst as you throw your power structures are off. If you have shoulder tension your power structures are off. Relax above the waist.

Another Note: His backside upper body rotates with his hips. Don’t do the Dak dance when you throw. It’s a hip activation warm up exercise not the way you throw. Keep it connected. One movement.

To lift heavier or more powerfully an athlete must To lift heavier or more powerfully an athlete must learn to create higher levels of tension. This video shows one method to create more tension for your squat.
-
Squats are NOT just a quad exercise, they are an EVERYTHING exercise.
-
I did see this coaching cue/idea elsewhere but I think it’s too good of a visual not to pass on how such a small change in the tension you create in your body can result in major changes elsewhere!!!

⚒Old School Effort New School Coaching🔥 - So ⚒Old School Effort New School Coaching🔥
-
Sometimes a return to your roots is all it takes.
-
I remember specific times in my life when I got into my best physical condition were always done in an old-school way. The prime example being at fire college in Texas where we did morning pt 5 days/week without ever using equipment... EVER. We ran, did pushups, chinups, squats, lunges, and ran stairs... that was it. 1.5 hrs every day!
-
It just needed to be done with Old School Effort!

Posted @withregram • @experienceanatomy The first section of the large intestines is called the cecum. It is continuous with the ascending colon and is approximately 7.5cm in both length and breadth. It resides in the lower right quadrant of the abdomen and can actually be palpated (felt from the exterior) if it is distended with feces or gas.

The cecum is also the location where the appendix attaches to the digestive tract. The appendix is thought to have lymphatic and immune functions within the digestive system.
Give your lower abdomen a good massage today and say hi to your cecum!
